We used Whova at the recent MARCON and SMRP conference 2 years ago. Both times it was great to set our agenda and to connect with others attending. The Contests are fun, and engaging. Being able to set up social events after the conference hours is also great to help network with fellow attendees.
  • Agenda
  • Contact exchange between users
  • Contests
  • As a speaker retrieving the polling data was a bit tough sometimes.
  • As a user/attendee sorting the posts would be nice if we could filter out topics that are not interesting to us
  • Time lag between the message in the app and the email sent would be eliminated if a notification was sent when someone messaged you
Conferences are 100% a great place to use them. Almost any public event I would think is good

I use Whova when it's chosen as the platform for online/virtual conferences, as it was for the 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 NY-NJ Harbor & Estuary conferences. The main problem it addresses is the lack of interpersonal connections found/grown at an in-person event. [The] ease of use is a major benefit.
  • The Leaderboard. Whoever (Whova-ever?) came up with it is a genius. I LOVE it.
  • The ability to connect with & message attendees is something I've not seen in other platforms
  • The dashboard is remarkably user-friendly
  • The reminders and updates were welcome, esp. in my busy world,
  • The fact that I was "already in the system" and didn't have to start fresh was a BIG positive.
  • I don't have enough experience to make a proper determination. I can't think of anything.
A large conference (300+ participants) is well-served by Whova, whereas a smaller gathering (-200 participants) might not need all the features Whova offers. The aforementioned connections between participants, something I think only Whova offers, was not only fun to use but [was especially helpful] when I didn't have the person's email; [I] was able to ask them for it and vice-versa. The relationship [with] Whova goes a long way to forge and maintain them.

Penn Medicine uses Whova for event management or communication purposes through the Revenue Cycle.
  • Whova provides tools for event organizers to streamline various aspects of event management, including registration, ticketing, agenda creation, and speaker management.
  • Whova's networking features facilitate interaction between attendees. They can connect with each other, set up meetings, and exchange contact information.
  • Attendees can access presentation materials, videos, and other event-related content within the app, enhancing their overall experience.
  • Whova's focus is primarily on virtual and hybrid events. Enhancing features for managing purely offline events or providing solutions for events that require a combination of online and offline management would be valuable.
  • Some users have noted that further enhancements, such as improved screen reader support and keyboard navigation, would make the platform more inclusive.
Whova is great due to its flexibility and the ability to enhance the attendee experience at conferences, expos, and various other types of events.

We used it for the Wounds UK-2023 conference and exhibition organised by the Wounds UK media organisation. They chose the Whova App, and I found it useful to scan clinical delegates, engage with them and then to download the leads. Also to book the scientific sessions that I wanted to attend.
  • Scanning delegates at the event - With the possibility to collect additional info via notes
  • Engaging with clinicians
  • Booking delegates
  • Book scientific sessions
  • Keep a track of number of leads collected
  • Download the leads
  • Ensure that accurate details are collected for customers/delegates at the event
  • Make work email address mandatory
  • Autocorrect was initially not functional - this could be incorporated
  • Setting up to collect Leads can be assigned directly to one person - It was done at the event

The International Conference on Genetic Genealogy used Whova as the platform for an in-person and virtual conference in November 2023. The platform had an app for mobile devices and a webpage for computer use. It managed the registrations, schedule of events, and chat. I used the search features to connect with colleagues.
  • Video streaming of class sessions
  • Chat features with other conference attendees
  • Schedule of sessions with diverse start and end times
The Whova features worked really well. I can only assume they have done a lot of user testing to make a robust platform for virtual events. Their features are similar to other platforms which made it easy to use. I did not have any trouble with the user interface and functionality.

I was an in-person delegate and panellist at a recent Aotearoan and Australian health conference that utilised the Whova platform. The conference was hybrid. As I've attended many international and national health conferences, I have experienced different apps and platforms to access programming, content, and connect with colleagues and networks. Whova has been one of the better platforms purely on the basis of engagement with conference delegates and presenters. I contributed to and participated in many discussion threads on topics of interest, shared research and resources with my peers - this kind of engagement hasn't been well facilitated by other platforms in my past experiences. I encourage the developers of Whova platform to focus on providing some accessibility options, such as dark mode, more detailed control over notifications, and text size - perhaps these features are already available and I was too overwhelmed by the notifications to find the accessibility settings. Finally, the chat function was very useful for meeting up with colleagues and peers in person, as well as facilitating new connections with the chat acting as an ice breaker so it was less awkward in person. I was also able to chat with online delegates, a handy feature.
  • facilitated the sharing of research, perspectives, and resources on topics of interest
  • enabled easier connection to new and existing relationships with conference delegates and speakers
  • allowed me to catch up on content I missed due to time conflicts for concurrent sessions
  • accessibility for disabled people and people with disability - visible and hidden e.g. dark mode, fonts and text size, layout, notifications
Whova was appropriate for the purpose of a health conference. I would recommend the platform to other NGOs considering platforms for their conferences, particularly if engagement is a critical process and outcome of the conference. As a health conference that involved people with living experience of the health topics at the conference, i.e. peer workers, peers in professional roles, people from affected communities, engagement was important.

We use it for when we attend conferences, I think it does a really good job of addressing the issue of where and when events are taken place along with other sessions. It also does a good job of being able to display the location of said sessions in the buildings when the user may be unfamiliar with the building.
  • Session availability
  • Location
  • Timing of events
Conferences are my only experience with Whova and it has been great for that purpose. Really makes operating and moving around the conferences very easy along with not having to get worried about whats going on all the time or making sure you are on top of everything since the app does that for you.

Whova was used for an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Conference in Redmond, WA held in October 2023. Various speakers and conferences were posted, and I could read a summary about different events, see information about the speakers and identify where they were located within a large building. Attendees were also encouraged to RSVP to attend for events with limited seating. I could also see other users who had RSVP'd or were attending the event. Although I did not reach out to other users, I saw that I could connect with other professionals through the app, which is a neat feature. Additionally, I noticed that after conference events, such as social hours and card games were posted with open invitations. I would use this app again for an event like this. The only difficulty I had was anticipated new-user discovery of how the app worked, and which "buttons" to press to navigate the different screens. This new-user learning curve was mastered within 15 minutes of familiarizing myself.
  • Post events
  • Provide details of speakers
  • RSVP
  • Review other attendees
  • Allowed for connecting with others attending the same event
Large conference events are great for this. Any events with multiple locations. Events intended for professionals within the same or similar backgrounds with the intention to make connections and network.

Too many options, it will be great if it could be simplify. Maybe condense options like photos and docs inside the conference room or workshops. As well as the post options where you can find a lot of things.... maybe you could categorize by subject to make more user friendly and easy to use.
  • All in one place
  • See the attendees profile
  • Interact with other attendees
  • Simplification
  • Categorizations
  • Organization
You can track the agenda of the event. You can see the attendees profile. You can see photos of the event. You can download documents. You can share your post. You can interact with other attendees. You can choose which session you can view. You can interact with hostess. You can ask questions.

I used Whova as a featured speaker for a conference that happened this past weekend. Whova made my conference experience go so smoothly! It allowed for event organizers to seamlessly email everyone at the 600+ person conference to update us on key updates as it came up--everything from lost items to changes in conference schedules were updated very easily. I was able to keep in touch easily with conference attendees and visually see everything that was happening at the conference and even was able to see events and meetups happening outside of the conference if I wanted to attend any of those. I would highly recommend this tool for anyone looking to have a smooth-sailing conference experience for attendees and speakers.
  • The user interface was easy to use
  • The events coordinated by conference attendees happening outside of the conference were easy to find
  • The event schedule was easy to see
Whova is probably well suited for conferences above 7 attendees where it's important for everyone to be on the same page and where attendees may not all be staying in the same location.

I used Whova at a conference hosted by the Michigan [..]. I was a speaker discussing your new technology platform. Whova aided with all the conference arrival details, event times and their location. It was an easy download app to connect with venders and additional meet and greet opportunities. I am not much for the point challenge but I did see many participated in the social aspect to the app. I would recommend Whova to other companies that are coordinating big events, it was a useful tool for all user groups.
  • Event Timelines
  • Attendee Lists
  • Participating Vender Lists
  • Personal Areas of Interest Selection List
  • Speaker Timing Schedules need to better regulated. My session started when it was suppose to end for the next speaker. That disrupts the event schedule for attendees that were looking to attend my discussion.
Multiple day conferences and events that are in multiple facility locations are definitely a must. Hotel and shuttle information to and from event are extremely useful for out of towers. Smaller events in one location will most likely not benefit from the app. I could even see this app being used for an out to town wedding app to help coordinate week long events for the attendees and bridal parties, times, locations, parking, shuttles,t ours etc.

There was a recent online safety webinar that used Whova which was how I was introduced to it. I had never used it in the past. I was impressed. Any kind of online seminar or workshop is an ideal scenario for using Whova. I honestly did not know about this company until the other day and I can see how it would be useful to anyone as a resource. It appears to have a lot of options for customization and that's just what I see as a user.

Whova used for a Growth Summer Retreat with 110 attendees. The app allowed for agenda information, meet ups, questions/answers, groups, etc. It was highly engaging.
  • Ease of use
  • Motivating competition element for leaderboard
  • Attendees' list
  • Some meet ups and groups were highly repetitive
  • It was not easy to see the newest messages in the sub-elements
Well suited:
Large group settings for conferences or retreats.
New attendees list to identify and meet new colleagues.
Group self-guidance on meet ups and topics to chat about.
Session questions and polls.

I was first introduced to Whova when I registered for the Clinical Retreat in Charleston, SC sponsored by SCPHCA. The product allows you to meet and stay connected to other attendees at the retreat, ask questions to the speakers, share information, and complete final surveys.
  • Keep up with all attendees who have signed in on the app.
  • Keeps you informed of changes to the schedule for the event you are registered to attend.
  • Great for networking!
  • On some of the pages you couldn't read the entire name of the session or the question being asked.
  • I couldn't access all the pictures on my phone to add to photos on the app.
  • Too many emails once you sign up and express interest in certain things. Then you get emails from everyone who has a similar interest. At one point it was ok, but then the incoming comments and messages became too much. I tried cutting off notifications, but they still keep coming. I don't want to uninstall the app, because I enjoy looking back on things on Whova to remember the event.
  • You don't get points for everything you do on the app. to help you compete in the leaderboard.
I can only share my one experience, which was at the conference I went to in Charleston. I enjoyed using it. I got to meet new people, speak to the presenters, and ask questions.

I used the Whova app when I went to the Region IV Head Start Conference in February 2023 and last week. I love the app, it help you to navigate on what training you want to take and connect with other people that are doing the trainings or attending them.
  • Provides an app for trainings
  • Helps connect with other people around the world
  • Help keep you up to date.
  • I kept getting lost so better instructions on how to navigate in the app
  • Was hard to figure out and log in to but did ok after i got in the app

Whova was used for a global, multi-chapter event.
  • Agenda for myself and the organization was really good. Very simple to understand
  • Group and global messaging was very easy to navigate to.
  • Exceptional social interaction within the app was very refreshing.
  • Profile management and pictures were really good.
  • Messaging showed a very high 'unread' badge which i would have liked to clear so I could attend to only what was new or what was new for the tracks/sessions I planned to attend on my agenda.
  • Agenda with multiple time zone options would be helpful since planning before I got to location I was in a different time zone.
Best app for conferences I've used yet!

From my experience, it is used as an event tool to connect participates closer together through organized content.
  • Creates tracking for those who participate
  • Calendar integration with events to stay organizated
  • Connects contacts with exchange of information
  • Intentional posting guardrails. Too easy to get points with one word answers.
  • Didn't like posting a photo in a commits automatically shows up in all event photos.

I used it for the annual Citygate conference to navigate sessions offered, maps, and social groups.
  • Suggestions to communicate with groups.
  • Encouragement to participate and gain points -fun competition.
  • Calendar reminders
  • Ability to connect/share contact info with other members
  • GPS would be nice
  • Make finding groups easier -the search function did not find the group I made up.
  • Provide links for virtual meet ups on the spot when using app to create meet-ups
I loved the energizing of the event with reminders and explanations on event details and using the app. I also appreciated the easy to use platform. AN interactive map and GPS navigation would be great (if it was avaiable did not see it)!

Please read: I cannot recommend Whova enough. I've been to plenty of trade shows, and every other trade show/event app I have used is kind of garbage. Whova absolutely raised the bar for how great a trade show/event app can be. If you are hosting a midsize or largesize trade show/conference/corporate event, and need an app, use Whova.<br>(For context: My company attended a trade show. The trade show organizers are the ones who used Whova for the attendees, such as ourselves, to get organized, communicate, and plan events with each other). <br>I rarely go out of my way to leave reviews, but I was so impressed by Whova that I simply had to. Tons of meet-ups and networking opportunities were organized successfully within the trade show, thanks to Whova. It's easy to use, reliable, and has taught me that trade show/event apps don't need to be bad, they can be great.
  • Allows event attendees to chat with each other and plan their own mini-networking events, and invite each other
  • Provides an easy-to-follow list of event sessions, rountables, etc. and lets you build your own schedule
  • Let's you scan leads (free) and retain that info
  • Compared to every other trade show app, there's no flaws
Smaller corporate events/conferences probably don't need it. But midsize and largesize, it's great.

I used the app while attending the PLECET Conference.
  • Keeping my agenda, with name and location of sessions.
  • Provide ability to review speaker bios and connect.
  • To provide course evaluations.
  • To modify the note taking capabilities.
  • Had difficulties with the QR scanning.
I liked the compactness of having the app on my phone and being with me constantly. It gave me current and updated information concerning the conference. The group messaging feature was also very handy, in that it allowed me real time conversations on connecting with people, or setting up meetings. Unlimited potential in the messaging component.

  • helped me organize MY agenda
  • helped me research the sessions that appropriate for ME
  • Added excitement in taking and looking at pictures from attendees
  • Maybe just add user tips on the homepage...

I have participated in several virtual conferences over the last 2 years. As a vendor it is nice to have something that captures the data a metrics of how often our booth has been visited. I love the interaction of the community boards and that it ranks your participation to showcase how involved you have been.
  • Available online and on mobile
  • Alerts come through on app and by email
  • Easy to navigate even if you've never used it before
  • I don't like that you can't edit a response after you press send - I accidentally pressed enter in the middle of my sentence and had to start a new comment... embarrasing.
I think that Whova provides a great platform for both virtual and hybrid meeting types. It doesn't make much sense for in person meetings.

I used Whova to attend the South Texas All Hazards Conference in McAllen, Tx. The only problem I had was when I would send reminders to my calendar from the Whova app, the room number for the sessions would change. I had no other problems, as the app was easy to use and follow.
  • Getting people to communicate over the app
  • holding events through the app
  • setting up meet-ups between people using the app
  • communications between the Whova app and other apps used for organization and reminders
Whova had the sessions an agenda readily available so I believe this would cut down on paper since you would not have to print out those items for conference and such. The larger and more attendees to such events the larger the benefit of using the Whova app.
